Ancient Kourion, Kolossi Castle, Omodos and winery tour from Limassol

Cyprus is all rolling hills dotted with pretty villages. On this adults-only tour, you'll see where a legend was born, visit the ruins of Kourion, venture to the village of Omodos and cap off the day with a wine tasting. Eva, one of our local guides, says of this excursion, ‘You'll wander through layers of history, culture and mythology.'You'll dive straight into the past at Kourion, one of the most impressive archaeological sites in Cyprus. Visit the Roman baths and amble into the site's centrepiece, the Greco-Roman theatre. Concerts are still held to this day. While the mosaics of the trio of excavated houses known as those of Eustolius, the Gladiators and Achilles are as impressive as when they were laid down. The 15th-century Kolossi Castle is up next. This steeped-in-legend Crusader-built fortress is nowadays surrounded by blooming plants. Then, we'll head for a local lunch in a family-run taverna before visiting mountain-fringed Omodos where you'll wander around skinny cobbled streets lined with Byzantine buildings. It's Eva's favourite village. She says, ‘The charm of the stone houses, the tranquillity and peace. It's as if it has sprung from a fairytale. I love dropping into one of the cafés and seeing locals have philosophical discussions, political arguments and a bit of gossip.' To finish, there's a wine tasting session, where you'll learn all about sweet commandaria wine – one of the oldest varieties in the world.

Blue Lagoon, gorge and beach tour by boat and 4x4 in Akamas

On this trip, you'll explore the Akamas peninsula by land and sea. And, rather than your typical coach set-up, you'll be in a 4x4 vehicle. The area is known for its natural beauty, so you're in for a real treat. Your day begins at Avakas Gorge, perhaps Cyprus' most impressive natural wonder, with a half-hour walk through its deep canyon with sheer walls of limestone that form a natural, narrow tunnel. Other star turns include Lara Beach, where a turtle conservation project has been protecting sea turtles for decades, enjoying lunch not far from Latchi harbour, and then a boat trip to the Blue Lagoon where you can take a dip in water so clear you'll see your toes.

Troodos Mountains 4x4 tour with meze lunch

Spend the day travelling through the forested Troodos Mountains and discover some of Cyprus' wildest landscapes on this 4x4 tour. See vineyards, waterfalls, mountain villages like Lefkara, pine forests and more.We'll kick off the action at the impressive Dipotamos Dam for a photo stop. Then, it's onto the sleepy mountain village of Lefkara, renowned for its intricately-made lace and silverware. You're in for a wild time on this family tour to Pafos Zoo and the Blue Lagoon. Kick off with a morning seeing creatures big and small from all over the world before an afternoon an exhilarating afternoon boat trip. Alexia, one of our expert local guides, say, ‘The zoo is a nice and safe environment in the heart of banana plantations and on the Blue Lagoon cruise, you'll get to swim, snorkel and sunbathe on some of the most exotic waters in the Med.'Get the day off to a roaring start at Pafos Zoo where you'll have plenty of time to roam around the park. There are more than 1,200 creatures, including monkeys, tigers and reptiles. Be sure to catch the ever-popular parrot show, where you'll have a chuckle at these cheeky birds. What's more, lunch at the zoo's Flamingo Restaurant is included. With a cool dining area in a veranda, a clay oven and an in-house chef cooking up dishes made from locally sourced ingredients, it's an attraction in itself. Next, we'll travel to Latchi harbour to catch the boat to the Blue Lagoon. From here, you'll cruise out into the open sea, following the glittering waters to the Blue Lagoon, where your captain will drop anchor for you to enjoy the surroundings. Take a dip, snorkel or simply stay on the deck to sunbathe – the choice is yours. There are many boat trips to the Blue Lagoon, but no other tour combines it with Pafos Zoo for a great family day out.

You'll sail from the Old Port in Limassol towards the most southerly point on the island for some much-deserved relaxation time with your loved ones on this calming catamaran cruise.Hop aboard in Limassol and grab yourself the best spot for stretching out on deck or on the nets and topping up your tan. Your captain and crew will steer the way south, towards Cape Gata, so that you'll not need to lift a finger all day. Local drinks are on tap too, including juices, wine and beer, so you can sip away as you admire the ever-changing landscape.And once the heat gets too much, there'll be a couple of stops for swimming, snorkelling or just taking a dip to cool off. It's all completed with some lunch on deck after swimming at Lady's Mile Beach before you begin the return leg of the journey.
