An Unforgettable 60th Birthday Celebration on the River Nile! I can't thank the team aboard our River Nile cruise enough for making my husband's 60th birthday celebration absolutely experience, Unforgettable. They made a personalised cake (which was delicious) with a surprise performance with musicians and singing Happy birthday by the waiting staff which was a heart warming moment. The cruise itself was spectacular. With breathtaking views and tours of most famous landmarks. A memory cherished.
You'll see both sides of Luxor – literally – on this full-day tour, which starts with a visit to the Valley of the Kings on the Nile's West Bank. There, you'll see some of the 63 tombs buried beneath the surface of this desert necropolis, including the most famous of the lot – Tutankhamun. After, you'll check out Hatshepsut Temple – a striking three-tier shrine that's been standing for thousands of years and rises above the desert floor. You'll then peer up at a pair of 60-foot stone statues named the Colossi of Memnon, which have stood for more than 3,000 years, before hopping on a motorboat to head across the Nile to the East Bank. After a lunch break back at the ship, you'll head to the Temple of Karnak's sprawling complex of sanctuaries, kiosks, pylons and obelisks, which are dedicated to the Theban gods, and see some of the thousand-plus statues that line up along Sphinx Avenue. Just so you know, the entrance fees to the tombs of Tutankhamun and Ramses VI aren't included. Entrance tickets for these sites can be purchased at the Valley of the Kings using debit or credit card only. On this tour there will also be a short stop at a traditional Alabaster factory where you'll have chance to purchase locally made souvenirs.
