Spend the day with Captain Yiannis and his crew aboard a traditional Greek boat. You'll set sail from Kefalos harbour and head just a couple of miles from the shore to explore the surrounding bays and the small Greek Island of Kastri.

Soak up the views and enjoy the sunshine as you head out to sea with the sound of the waves gently lapping the boat's hull. And if you fancy having a try, Yiannis and his crew will teach you how to fish in the traditional Greek style. If not, simply sit back and top up your tan or unwind in the shade.

You'll sail to a secluded beach where there'll be time to swim and relax, too. And to top it all, the crew will prepare you a tasty lunch of Greek dishes on the beach.

Der Ausflug war schön. Leider sind wir mit dem Boot erst um 10:30 und nicht um 10 Uhr weggefahren, weil wir auf einen anderen Bus warten mussten. Zuerst sind wir um eine kleine Insel gefahren und dann haben wir versucht zu fischen. Nur eine Person hat einen kleinen Fisch gefangen. Danach sind wir zu dem privaten Strand gefahren. Badeschuhe sind dort sehr von Vorteil. Man könnte schwimmen, vom Boot springen oder nur entspannen. Essen war sehr gut und genügend für alle. Danach Rückkehr zum Hafen.

Das Angeln war symbolisch: es gab nicht viel zu fangen und noch weniger zu essen. Schwimmen vom Boot aus war toll, besser als vom felsigen "Strand". Barbecue war spitze!

Die Bootscrew war freundlich und spaßig. Sehr nette und sympatische Menschen, es wurde auch viel gelacht. Das Fischen kann man mehr als Spaß für die Kinder betrachten, weder Fänge noch Größen waren nennenswert. Dennoch war es insgesamt ein sehr schöner Ausflug, gerade das wirklick leckere BBQ in einer traumhaften Kiesbucht, mit Badezeit hat paradiesische Eindrücke hinterlassen. Einziges Manko, wie bei anderen organisierten Ausflügen: Die fürchterlich langen Transfer-Sammelfahrten mit Bussen.

Sophia, one of our expert local guides, says "the Asclepeion of Kos was dedicated to Asclepius, the Greek god of healing and medicine, and it was known as a healing sanctuary in ancient times. The peaceful surroundings and the extensive gardens were soothing for patients."Start off with a guided visit to Kos town and its eye-catching harbour with bobbing boats lined up. Next, step back in time at ancient Asclepeion, which remains one of Greece's most important archaeological sites. Here, you'll have free time to explore and imagine Hippocrates, who was born on the island of Kos, undergoing his medical education at the Asclepeion. Among the attractions are the remains of the world's first hospital, where doctors learned about medicine from Hippocrates, and studied how to treat disease. You'll also visit the mountain village of Zia, which sprawls beneath Mount Dikaios and is best known for traditional architecture and wonderful views of the coast. After lunch in a typical restaurant, it's on to taste local wine at a wine factory, and honey in a honey factory. Then, at the end of the excursion, you have the chance to capture amazing photos at Kefalos village at the south part of the island.

Aboard a traditional Kaiki boat, it's time to relax and unwind as your captain drops anchor at secluded bays and swim spots at the neighbouring islands of Nera and Kalymnos. Eleni, one of our expert local guides, says, ‘Kaiki are the colourful wooden boats that Greece is so famous for. We are a nation of boatbuilders and fishermen, and even though many Kaiki boats are now used for tourism, look out for them still being used for fishing.'Sun, sea and swimming – a trio of things that make being on holiday so special. Your journey will take you across to the tiny isle of Nera, home to a single house and a handful of deserted coves. Sailing onwards to Kalymnos Island, you'll reach the shores around Vlyxadia where you'll be able to cool off in the Aegean and try your hand at snorkelling if you're in the mood. The waters here are calm and clear – and if you're lucky, you may be able to spot the dolphins and sea turtles that call the area home.You'll have free time to make the most of the great swimming spots, top up your tan on deck, or see what you can spot underwater.
